Roman Šolc

A native of CZ - Podebrady, studied at the Prague Conservatory of Dance. Between 2001 - 2004 was a member of the National Theatre Ballet in Prague. As a dancer, was awarded II. price in competition of the dance artists from CZ and SK 97 and nominated for the Thalia Prize in 1996 for the role of Mercutio in Romeo and Juliett.

He focuses on the work of costume designer. Created costumes for ballets such as the National Theatre Brno: Mary Stuart (1998), Ivan the Terrible (2002), an evening of ballet to music by Czech composers (2004), The Rite of Spring (2006).

The Prague Chamber Ballet: Frescoes (1998), Slavic Duets (1999), From the Homeland (1999), Hiroshima (2000), Maria's Dream (2002).

The JK Tyl Theatre in Pilsen: Lady of the Camellias (2001), Some Like it Hot (2003), Čachtická Lady (2008) for Prague Laterna Magika: Graffiti (2002).

The National Theatre in Prague Les Bras de Mer (2004), Ibbur (2005), Mozart? Mozart! (2006).

The Prague State Opera: The Lady of theCamellias (2003), Cinderella (2004), Midsummer Night's Dream (2006).

His designs have been applied in many musical productions: Cleopatra (2002), The Three Musketeers (2004), Golem (2006), Angelica (2007), Dracula, the Mona Lisa (2009).

DRAWING / BODY, COSTUME DESIGN

Prague 28.7.-4.8.2013

We wil draw and draw. We will change different techniques: soft pencil, charcoal, pastel and aquarelle. The main focus will be on a man and woman in motion. We will try to draw different phases of movement and also have a short course focused on correct proportions of a human body. We will work in our classroom as well as in dance studios. Finally, we will make collages from different fragments of our work and they will be put on display on the last festival day in Gallery NoD.

Please, bring with you a drawing pad A2, soft pencil, charcoal and ruddle, brushes and watercolours (normal school one´s are enough). Papers will be provided.
