Gabriel (Ken-Yoeng) Wong was born in Malaysia in 1975. After graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (1998) and The Laban Centre London (Transition Dance Company) in 1999, he became a member of the Ballett Theater Augsburg directed by Jochen Heckmann (1999-2003), and received The Theater Prize from The City of Augsburg in 2002. Then he joined the company from Carlos Matos in Stadttheater Hildesheim as a dancer as well as modern dance trainer for the company (2003-2006). Since season 2006, Gabriel Wong is working as free-lancer as Trainer, Choreographer, Choreographic assistant, Production assistant, Conceptualist and Rehearsal management within Europe... On the side, he also done Media technician, Evening director and Stage manager. He teaches mostly for productions and workshops for festivals as well as in Mousonturm Frankfurt and tanzhaus nrw Düsseldorf. He is still actively involved as a dancer and has worked with choreographers like Jean Ranshow, Eric Trottier, Carlos Cortizo, Felix Landerer, Philip Bermann, Karel Vaněk and Mark Sieczkarek in Germany, Nor Dar and Barak Marshall from Israel, Fin Walker in UK, Kei TaKei and Kaori Ito from Japan and Lin Huai Min from Taiwan. Currently working at les ballets C de la B, Belgium. Mean while he founded his own dance comedy group “tanzUtan”. Presented it own productions like “Bla Bla Bla”, “Loser” and with “Sommernachtram: Erwachen” were awarded first price for “Freie Theatergruppen” in Spielzeit 2011/12 from the BürgerStiftung Hildesheim.

Teaching Experience:
Gabriel Wong received diplomas in teaching from the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and one from Laban Centre London. Since season 2003, he gives regular  modern dance training at the Stadttheater in Germany. Yet he travel around as guest teacher for professional companies and private schools in Germany. He has also taught in Hong Kong, Philadelphia, England, Czech Republic and Poland He teaches from beginners to professional level of contemporary classes “Fought Less”, and provided Coaching Workshop for choreographers and dancers as well as open classes of improvisation, and also he set up a weekly workshop for the actors from the Stadttheater. In his modern training, he invented a very interesting combination of Pilates, Releasing Technique, Floor Work and Chinese Traditional Dance Technique, as well as using basic Laban Movement Exercise “Body, Effort, Shape and Space” to create a very dynamic, organic, grounding and powerful but forceless quality. Well preparation for physical challenge and keep the body in active of all time, emphasizing breath, body connections, softening and surrender into the foor. Effortless in speeding up and in control a clam and relaxed appearance.
